This is a mechanical watch, the Seiko SUS 4S15 to be exact. I was in Minnesota along the eastern edge, where it meets Lake Superior. This was at a roadside park. Superior was freezing cold in the middle of Summer; I guess it never really warms up.
The rock was dry, and just as I set up to take the picture, a bit of water lapped up and made everything all wet. I am just glad it did not carry away the watch. Here is a good example of how an accident can make a picture much better, as the reflection of the watch and sky on the wet rock makes it a nicer image I think.
Mechanical watches by the way are fascinating objects, but after all they still are just objects.
Hey Alan...Seiko would pay some professional advertising photographer huge money to get a picture like that. You missed your calling...fella. Dorsey H.
